Created in the 1960s in Japan, Jiro Ramen has become a staple of Japanese culture, with restaurant chains across the country serving this bold and hearty dish. Chef Kenta Ikehata has brought this tradition to Schaumburg, a Chicago suburb not widely known for its authentic Japanese cuisine. By opening the Chicago Ramen Annex several years ago, Ikehata aimed to share this authentic taste of Japan with the local community. Since its opening, the restaurant has become a popular hotspot among locals who appreciate genuine Asian flavors.
Design
Classic Japanese design style embodies natural wood elements and warm hues, and this space is no exception. The richly patterned plank floor, mixed with warm wood booths and solid wood tables and chairs, creates a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The heavy use of red adds a pleasing accent, with the seats of the chairs and booths clad in vivid vinyl. A sake bar lines the far wall, offering patrons a variety of traditional drinks.
Modern mirrors back the wood wall bench seating, giving the venue an airy feel and making it seem larger than it is. Evenly spaced and subtle pendant lighting enhances the warm tones and highlights the natural wood grains, creating an inviting and comfortable atmosphere that promotes ease and relaxation. Decorative bamboo accents and paper lanterns contribute to the authentic Japanese ambiance, completing the overall aesthetic of the space.
Wood Platform Booth with Beadboard Back
Adding just the right amount of traditional and country-style influences, this booth, shown below in double configuration, gives character and charm to the space. Matching well with the earthy tones of the solid wood tables and chairs, it provides a sense of cohesion and class while providing guests with a relaxing and private dining experience.
Fully customizable in height, length, and shape, the versatile Wood Platform Booth with Beadboard Back will fit in a range of commercial settings. Its beadboard back is offered in solid wood, or can be semi or fully padded with a choice of premium fabric and vinyl upholstery. The wood frame is available in various finish options, and it can be custom ordered in Single, Double, Wall Bench, L-Shape, ½ & ¾ circle configurations. Crafted with a wood frame using double dowel and glue joints and high-density foam padding, this booth will withstand heavy regular use for years to come.
Solid Wood Plank Table Top
Wood is essential in traditional Japanese design, and it fits here perfectly. Matching with the other design elements, these tables create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. The walnut finish contrasts perfectly with the red vinyl upholstery of the chairs and booths, creating visual interest and further enhancing the allure of the restaurant.
Offered in a range of shapes and sizes and with several wood finishes to choose from, our Solid Wood Plank Table Top can be crafted to fit any design style or spatial layout. Utilizing a premium 7-stage staining process and constructed with a 1 ½” thickness with an optional premium 2" custom upgrade, this rugged piece will stand the test of time. A drop leaf can be included to enhance the table top's versatility.
Wood Ladder Back Chair
The gently curved back of this signature piece breaks up the sharp lines and angles of the rest of the furniture, providing a softer take on the space. The solid wood construction is in line with the rest of the decor, and the bright red seat creates a focal point in the otherwise monotone interior.
Similar to the chair shown above, our Wood Ladder Back Chair is constructed using a hydraulic press for indestructible joints, and utilizes a 7-stage staining process using premium catalyzed polyurethane for lasting beauty. Customization possibilities are endless with a choice of a solid wood, premium vinyl, or fabric upholstered seat, as well as various wood finish colors on offer. Crafted with a reinforcement bar under the seat for rugged stability, this chair is perfect for high-traffic indoor commercial spaces.
