Founded in 1983 and formally known as “Der Braumeister Restaurant: (German for “Brewmaster”) Der Braumeister is one of Cleveland’s oldest and authentic beer halls, with an extensive and exclusive beer list and modern German cuisine. The restaurant boasts many traditions beloved by the community such as their 12 beers of Christmas, Beer of the Month Club and exclusive beer pairing dinners, and custom catering menus. In addition to a large beer hall there is also a bar.
When designing the interior the owner wanted to create the ambiance of a German beer hall. The cream colored walls, decorated with German lager brands and Bavarian scenes help create the atmosphere of a German biergarten. The restaurant has plank hardwood floors in natural finish giving the dining area a woodsy look and feel. Lighting is provided by elegant, German style chandeliers. The follsky decor includes a large mural of a Bavarian forest and medieval castle and the dining room has the look and feel of a beer hall with tables connected together to make seating for 5 or six people.
The owner of Der Braumeister, Jennifer Wirtz recently renovated the beer hall in collaboration with the city of Cleveland’s restoration project. To provide comfortable seating that would blend in with the traditional German motif, she chose classic, ladder back wood chairs in black finish with padded seats upholstered in black vinyl. The American made, solid wood chairs fit in well with the Bavarian theme. The black chairs make a nice contrast with the light colored walls and give the place an upscale look.
To go with the ladder back wood chairs, Jenn chose solid wood, butcher block table tops in dark mahogany finish. The table tops are made of 1 ½ inch thick solid wood from responsibly harvested maple trees. The premium mahogany finish went great with the wood chairs blended in with the Bavarian theme. The tables help give the interior design a rustic look that plays out well with the hardwood floors.
For bar seating, premium, US made ladder back bar stools in black finish and padded seats upholstered in black vinyl upholstery were chosen. The bar stools match the side chairs used in the dining room and help create a cohesive look. The solid wood bar stools are America’s most popular bar stool and they looked great sitting at the fully stocked bar with a long, wood counter. The ladder-back look is the perfect style to complement the traditional look and they are right at home in Der Braumeister looking great at the bar height tables in the tavern.
Der Braumeister also offers outdoor seating when the weather permits. For the patio seating, Jenn chose an attractive aluminum table and chairs set with black resin seats and back. The beautiful aluminum patio set comes with 2 aluminum chairs with resin seats that have holes allowing for air flow and easy drainage. The black seat and back of the chairs keeps the theme of black seating and looks great in front of the tavern, inviting customers to sit down and relax with a beer. The table comes with a stainless steel top and an aluminum base that matches the aluminum chairs perfectly and has a sleek look.
